Broken nominated for Rockie award

Exciting news for Broken!  We are thrilled to announce that the gripping documentary series has been nominated for the Rockie Awards International Program Competition in the category Social & Current Affairs.

The Rockie Awards International Program Competition is part of The Banff World Media Festival (BANFF) and is one of the largest awards programs of its kind, juried by an esteemed panel of 150 international industry professionals and covering all major genres. The Rockies Program Competition ceremony will stream live on Monday, June 15th.

Broken is a four-part docu-novel following a group of people during their stay in a rehabilitation centre. The series, also following some of the medical staff, tells their story, as if it’s a novel: non-fiction with the narrative style of a high-quality drama series. Broken reveals what happens when a disaster strikes. A traffic accident, an unfortunate fall from the stairs or a cerebral haemorrhage; it takes just one second, but life will never be the same again afterwards. Suddenly a body is broken, as if it’s a machine. In Broken, we see how patients try to shape their new lives. What remains of them, now that their old life has abruptly ended?

Broken is directed by Jurjen Blick and produced in 2019 by the VPRO. If you would like to receive more information or a screening link of this beautiful series, please contact us via info@dutch-core.nl!
