If a system does not work well, would you not be better off by taking matters into your own hands?
Think of a world without miserable customer service desks, a world in which we make money, but not at the expense of others, and at the same time contribute to a better environment. Think of a world full of trust and solidarity, without having to give up our individual freedom. Utopia? Not according to several pioneers in the field of energy, for they say that this could be our future. They show us that decentralization and cooperative societies will allow us to make our energy supplies sustainable faster than we ever imagined, often without subsidies and while making a profit. And if we can have sustainable energy, why stop at that? Initiatives are currently set up also in the insurance, healthcare and industries by citizens who are prompted by the recession to develop new social networks, driven by empathy rather than greed.
In "Power to the People" Backlight is inspired by these pioneers of a new (energy) era.
