Masterpiece: Rembrandt's Night Watch

Over the past two years, a group of researchers from the Rijksmuseum under the guise of Operation Night Watch have used the latest and most advanced techniques to scrutinis the painting The Night Watch and assemble an enormous amount of new data. This research is the trigger for now stepping into Rembrandt's shoes in order to imitate his painting techniques and reconstruct his materials for this special. Does this work, that we all know so well, still hold any secrets?

In the internationally acclaimed television program Masterpiece researcher and artist Lisa Wiersma, art and science historian Thijs Hagendijk, materials expert Joris Dik and restorer Michel van de Laar reconstruct the work of the Netherlands' greatest artists. Doing everything in their power to exactly replicate what the master originally did.
