True Water Crimes is a true crime documentary series, in which four stories on global water shortage are treated as crime scenes. A dead man in the Mexican desert, a fatal fall of a Spanish toddler into a well, a rape in Nairobi and a sabotage of the water supply to a Greek Island. Each documentary shows a different place in the world where water disappears and moral dilemmas arise. But who needs the water the most? Are waterrobbers the bad guys or the good guys? There is only one certainty: the fight for water is a fight on life and death.
Fresh water is becoming increasingly scarce and therefore increasingly valuable. This creates new crime worldwide, water theft. Stolen water is a whodunnit without murder. But with water mafia, multinationals, angry farmers and self-proclaimed Robin Hoods. Each episode shows a different place in the world where water disappears illegally and a moral dilemma arises: Who needs the water most? Are these "perpetrators" really that morally wrong? Who is actually in charge of the water?
