In this documentary, Zembla researches how it’s possible for patients to take contaminated pills. Last year, journalists tested paracetamol from the largest raw material producer in the world - China’s Anqiu Lu’an Pharmaceutical. The analysis showed that it contained a carcinogenic substance. Recently, carcinogenic substances have also been found in, for example, antihypertensive drugs and antacids. Why don’t manufacturers themselves notice these pollutions? Why haven’t government regulatory agencies discovered this? How does the control system work?
